School of Ranch and Locavore invite you to stir up something special at our upcoming workshop: Soups from Scratch: Warming Up with Seasonal Local Foods, a hands-on cooking workshop for the DIY community of Central Oregon! Led by renowned wellness and culinary educator Suzanne Landry, author of The Passionate Vegetable, this class will teach you how to create nutritious, flavorful meals that boost your vegetable intake using seasonal produce sourced first from local farms, then regionally as needed.
In this interactive workshop, you’ll learn cooking techniques and knife skills to enhance the natural flavors of your ingredients, while discovering what’s currently in season and the variety of produce grown right here in Oregon.
Participants will also enjoy a special demonstration on breaking down and cooking a whole chicken by our seasoned local professional. You’ll learn how to use every part of the chicken, including making a hearty bone broth as the base for your veggie-packed soups.
This class is perfect for anyone looking to explore local flavors, improve their cooking skills, and create delicious, nourishing meals from scratch!
This workshop takes place from 10am-1pm on Saturday, February 22 at the OSU Extension Service. The cost to attend is $40 plus $8 supplies fee. Register at schoolofranch.org/w-tis-winter.
