Wickiup is almost filled up. Central Oregon Community College’s (COCC) residence hall, Wickiup Hall, is nearing its August 1 application deadline for the 2017-18 academic year and registered students interested in housing are encouraged to begin the application process now.
The 320-capacity building first opened in the fall of 2015. Last year, it was full for fall term and college officials expect it to reach capacity soon for this September.
The residence hall has served as home to students from as far away as Hawaii and Florida—with extensive research indicating that students who live on their college’s campus maintain higher GPAs and achieve better retention and graduation rates than peers who live off campus. Rates for an entire term, including a meal plan, start at $3,444.
“Wickiup Hall adds a vibrant facet to COCC’s Bend campus,” said Stephanie Bilbrey, COCC’s housing marketing coordinator. “We recommend visiting to get a feel for our community, to see how the hall’s amenities, spacious suites and mountain views come together and contribute significantly to the student experience. The library, dining hall, fitness center and most classes are very close by—our residents rave about the convenience of living in the hall.”
The residence hall is centrally located on the Bend campus, combining convenience and comfortable rooms with a built-in community environment, communal kitchen and a host of student support services—along with some incredible views from Awbrey Butte. The building is comprised of single- and double-bedroom “semi-suite” rooms, which feature small living areas and shared bathrooms.
