The Deschutes County Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, June 3, to discuss the Community Development Department’s 2026-27 Work Plan. Community members are invited to attend in person or online and share feedback.

“The work plan outlines the department’s key goals and projects for the coming year,” Community Development Director Peter Gutowsky said. “Public feedback is important because it helps us make sure our work aligns with community needs and priorities.”

The proposed work plan includes:

  • Continuing to provide a high level of customer service.
  • Updating county code to meet state rules for multifamily housing in unincorporated areas.
  • Supporting fuels reduction, wildfire preparedness education, and outreach through the La Pine Wildfire Mitigation Project.
  • Working with cities, County Property Management and other partners to support housing opportunities.
  • Starting an update to the Terrebonne Community Plan.
  • Working with Bend, Redmond, Sisters and La Pine on long-range planning projects, including updates to comprehensive plans and urban growth boundaries.

The hearing will take place during the Board’s regular meeting at 9am on Wednesday, June 3 at the Deschutes Services Building, 1300 NW Wall St. in Bend. The meeting agenda and information to join online are available at deschutes.org/meetings.
