September event connects volunteer teams with service projects.
Volunteer sign-ups are open for the 2015 Days of Caring presented by the United Way of Deschutes County and Volunteer Connect on September 18-19.
Volunteer teams from businesses, schools, and other organizations are invited to sign up at http://www.volunteerconnectnow.org/Volunteer/Days-of-Caring/
Days of Caring is a community-wide effort that brings together teams of volunteers to provide short term, project-focused volunteer service with non-profit and public community organizations. The annual two-day event gives volunteers an opportunity to assist community organizations in accomplishing necessary projects, while experiencing the intrinsic rewards of contributing to the well-being of our region. We expect to welcome at least 250 volunteers to bring their hearts and hands to serve with at least 25 community projects throughout Deschutes and Crook Counties.
Volunteer Connect’s Executive Director, Betsy Warriner, expresses our excitement: “What an opportunity to partner with United Way to engage scores of energetic, caring volunteers with the needs in Central Oregon.”
About Volunteer Connect: Volunteer Connect links community members with rewarding volunteer opportunities to enhance Central Oregon, partnering with over 130 non-profit and public organizations to recruit and connect volunteers, matching volunteer interests and skills with community needs. Volunteer Connect brings four years of experience in organizing the regional Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service event, connecting hundreds of volunteers with one-time service projects.
About UWDC: United Way of Deschutes County developed and has led our local Days of Caring event for more than 15 years. United Way of Deschutes County addresses the issues and challenges that affect us all and is achieving greater impact in our community by focusing on the three building blocks for a good life – education, health, and income. We are bringing interested people and organizations to make long lasting, visible and measurable changes. Together we will create a healthier and more prosperous community with opportunities for everyone.
