EDCO’s April Virtual PubTalk Spotlights the Ethics of AI

0

EDCO’s April Pub Talk will take place Thursday, April 23 at 5pm and features a diverse range of topics, from artificial intelligence to tiny jackets for your beverage to products that are currently in high demand. Emcee Shanan Kelley will bring her witty humor for a much-needed distraction.

We’ll gather online to support our entrepreneurs as long as we have to, but we also promise to plan one good party as soon as we can get together in person again!

Now more than ever, our local businesses need your support. If you can safely do so, order takeout from your favorite spot (here’s a list of to-go restaurants), grab a local beverage and join us from the comfort of your living room on April 23.

Keynote:
The Ethics of Artificial Intelligence
Helen Edwards and David Edwards, co-founders, Sonder Scheme
Have you thought about the role AI plays in your daily life? AI is all around you, including the ads you’re served to guide the decisions you make. The role of AI ethics is to teach machines about human values and govern how it operates “in the wild.” Hear why privacy is different in the age of AI, how humans judge machines versus how machines judge humans and the threats AI poses.

Pitching Company:
Tyrone Hazen, founder, Puffin Coolers

Company Updates:
Allison Barnard, founder & CEO, Terra Frma
Julie Mosier and Henry Mosier, co-founders, Food for the Sole
