Yet Another Pandemic Pivot…

In a quick change of plans due to new pandemic-related health and safety precautions, Every Child Central Oregon (ECCO) is announcing an update to an event that is slated to take place Monday, August 16 at noon in Redmond.

The unveiling of the new-and-improved Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS) Visitation Center for Children and Families Experiencing Foster Care will still take place at the Redmond-based center and be facilitated by the Redmond Chamber of Commerce, according to Melissa Walters, ECCO’s director. However, now socially distanced tours will be offered first at noon, then everyone is invited to head to a celebration at The Redmond Hotel at 1pm.

The event details are as follows:
Date: Monday, August 16, 2021
Visitation Tours: 12-12:45pm at ODHS, 706 SW 12th St., Redmond, OR 97756
Celebration Honoring Donors and Community Members: 1-2pm, 521 SW Sixth St., Redmond, OR 97756

“We really hope the media and community come out to see the visitation center and, with growing concerns around the pandemic, feel that offering socially distanced tours is a safer way to see the center,” Walters says. “However, we most definitely still intend to honor our donors and other community members who have made it all possible. After the tours wrap up, we’ll shift our event venue to The Redmond Hotel. Its general manager, Tobias Colvin, just stepped up and graciously offered the hotel’s conference room, and we couldn’t be more grateful and excited to use it for this celebration!”

On the agenda at The Redmond Hotel: brief speeches and organization news, plenty of snacks, and recognition for key stakeholders and donors including:

Thanks to the big hearts of this handful of Central Oregon organizations and local individuals, children and families experiencing foster care now have in this visitation center a new safe, cozy place to meet with ODHS in Redmond. This new facility is made possible by these area sponsors, in partnership with ODHS and ECCO, an affiliate of the statewide 501(c)3 nonprofit Every Child Oregon.
