The Family Access Network (FAN) received a generous grant award of $25,000 from the JTMF Foundation to support FAN services across Central Oregon. FAN places advocates directly in schools throughout Crook, Deschutes, and Jefferson counties to connect families who are low-income, living in poverty, or experiencing homelessness. Through a single advocate, children and their family members can connect to a variety of resources, including food, school supplies, clothing, rent and utility assistance, and healthcare. FAN’s ability to meet the basic needs of local families helps them regain stability and self-sufficiency.
“The JTMF Foundation’s continued partnership with FAN has been invaluable in ensuring that children here in Central Oregon can thrive,” said FAN Executive Director Julie Lyche. “With the rising cost of living adding stress on families, we are honored to help make a positive impact together.”
The JTMF Foundation was created after the sale of Consumer Cellular in 2020. John and Tami Marick used proceeds from the sale to form the foundation and create lasting impacts in their communities. The JTMF Foundation partners with organizations that are improving lives today while advancing innovative, long-term solutions to the challenges facing communities. The foundation’s key areas of giving are empowering individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, helping older adults, assisting veterans, and enabling children.
Unique to Central Oregon, FAN began in 1993 and currently employs 28 advocates at 66 sites in Deschutes, Crook, and Jefferson counties. These advocates work tirelessly to help families break the cycle of poverty. The direct placement of FAN advocates within schools allows FAN to effectively reach and connect children and families in need to essential resources to thrive.
Family Access Network’s mission is to offer assistance, possibility and hope to Central Oregon families in need by connecting them with crucial resources that will help children flourish in school and in life. Every year, FAN advocates improve the lives of over 7,600 children and family members in Deschutes, Crook, and Jefferson counties.
