The Family Access Network (FAN) received $50,000 from the Marie Lamfrom Charitable Foundation, supporting FAN services across Central Oregon. FAN services provide crucial resources to local students and their family members in need, including housing and utility assistance, clothing, school supplies, and positive youth development. Poverty has profound, although sometimes invisible, effects on children, and this generous funding from the Marie Lamfrom Charitable Foundation will go towards the important effort of breaking down these barriers and helping students attend school ready to learn.
“This continued partnership with the Marie Lamfrom Charitable Foundation is vital in providing our local families with access to needed resources,“ said FAN Foundation’s new Board Chair, Tasha McFarland. “We are so grateful for their generosity and to work on strengthening our community together.”
The Marie Lamfrom Charitable Foundation launched in 1998 by Dave and Sally Bany in honor of Sally’s grandmother, Marie Lamfrom. Since its inception, the foundation has honored Marie’s life and legacy by helping those in our community who need it most by supporting education, arts, creativity, health, and well-being in Oregon. The foundation values pursuing partnerships that make positive change, alleviate human suffering, and promote thriving communities.
Unique to Central Oregon, FAN began in 1993 and currently employs 28 advocates at 66 sites in Deschutes, Crook, and Jefferson counties. These advocates work tirelessly to help families break the cycle of poverty. The direct placement of FAN advocates within schools allows FAN to effectively reach and connect children and families in need to essential resources to thrive.
Family Access Network’s mission is to offer assistance, possibility and hope to Central Oregon families in need by connecting them with crucial resources that will help children flourish in school and in life. Every year, FAN advocates improve the lives of over 7,600 children and family members in Deschutes, Crook, and Jefferson counties.
