Family Resource Center of Central Oregon — You Can Give Babies & Families a Boost

0

Little Charlotte says thank you! Or she would if she knew how to talk. Let us share a little about why babies and children like Charlotte need your help.

You know early childhood experiences matter, but do you know the first two months of life are a critical period in development — in fact some experts say they are the most critical. It’s during this narrow window of time when attachment capabilities are formed, if altered by neglect or trauma, children and the adults they become may have difficulties with friendships, school, intimacy and family — they will struggle with relationships. This in turn feeds some of the long term-challenges society and our community struggle with — substance abuse, domestic violence and a host of chronic health issues.

Could it be this simple? When you look through the eyes of children — what do children need to reach their full potential — they need healthy, nurturing relationships — it’s how the brain develops. Children of all ages thrive when they have regular interactions with responsive caring adults, and the younger they are the more sensitive they are to the emotional climate in the home. The research is clear — infants, children, and yes, even adolescents need responsive caring relationships in order to thrive.

Baby Charlotte’s parents, Jason and Jen, learned how their baby’s brain and body uses the care she receives to build her future. Because of donors like you — little Charlotte’s parents found a community of support at Family Resource Center and little Charlotte received a super dose of protection!

As our community continues to grow, so does the demand for services. With your support, we will be able to meet the need and create a bigger impact for Central Oregon children and their families. Please consider a gift today that will have a ripple effect for future generations!
