Bend Sunrise Lions Club is sponsoring the 45th annual Fathers Day Demolition Derby on Sunday, June 21 at the Deschutes County Fairgrounds. In celebration of its 45th year they have invited the band Long Tall Eddy to join the fun. Come and see over 30 drivers competing for over $5,000 in prize money. You won’t want to miss our fabulous half-time entertainment and door prize drawings.

The Annual Demolition Derby, sponsored by Ram Trucks/Smolich Motors and Big Country RV, is the major fundraiser for the Bend Sunrise Lions Club and generally about 3,500 people attend this great event. Driver competitions include modified, stock and midsize cars and the popular Powder Puff Heat.

“We are proud that the Demolition Derby has become a traditionally attended event for many Central Oregon families,” said Russ Chase, president of the Bend Sunrise Lions Club. “We encourage you to make it a tradition for your family and to support the work of the Bend Sunrise Lions Club.”

The Bend Sunrise Lions Club gathers each Tuesday at Jakes Diner at noon. Its mission is to meet the needs of our local community through service. Locally they provide vision screenings for school children, eye exams, glasses and hearing aids for low income individuals, recycle used eyeglasses and provide the Flags for First Graders program at local schools.

The Club offers volunteer and financial support to many local non-profit organizations including the Bend Senior Center, Bethlehem Inn, Boys & Girls Club, COCC Scholarship Fund, Hospice of Bend, SMART, Start Making A Reader Today, Red Cross and the Ronald McDonald House.
