The filing period is now open for candidates planning to run in the November 3, 2026, General Election. The Bend City Council has three positions that will be placed on the ballot for the November 2026 election: Seat #5 (Councilor), Seat #6 (Councilor) and Seat #7 (Mayor).
The filing period closes on August 18, 2026, for elected incumbents and on August 25, 2026, for all others. Detailed information and nomination forms are available on the City’s website.
Candidates must reside within the city limits of Bend for at least one year prior to the election and be a registered voter in Bend.
Individuals elected to a seat on the City Council will begin serving January 2026. Terms are four years.
Candidates can expect to meet in the Council capacity at least three nights each month. Councilors automatically sit on the Bend Urban Renewal Agency Board, serve on the Budget Committee, and participate in other city, local and regional committees.
Candidates elected to a Councilor position in the November 2026 election will receive an annual $30,000 stipend, health benefits and an annual $3,000 health and wellness stipend. The candidate elected as Mayor will receive an annual $50,000 stipend, health benefits and an annual $3,000 health and wellness stipend.
