Free Pre-Participation Sport Physicals for Youth

0

The Center Foundation (TCF) in Bend, Oregon, in partnership with The Center, Therapeutic Associates, Inc., Horizon Broadcasting and local physicians is providing no-cost pre-participation sport physicals to 6th through 12th grade Central Oregon students planning to play school sports or intramurals during the 2015-16 school year. Physicals are Thursday, August 6 for boys and Tuesday, August 11 for girls.

Students must sign in and register for their physicals between 5:00 – 6:30 p.m. at The Center, located at 2200 NE Neff Road in Bend, on the west side of St. Charles Hospital. Physicals will begin at 5:30pm and are on a first come, first served basis. Students MUST have a parent or guardian signature on the state required physical form BEFORE receiving the physical. The physical form may be downloaded from the TCF website www.centerfoundation.org/free-pre-participation-sports-physicals or be obtained at the time of registration. A $10 donation is appreciated but not required to help cover TCF costs.

This opportunity meets the state pre-participation requirements and is not intended to replace an annual well-child exam. The Deschutes County Health Department will be offering teen immunizations.

Last year TCF conducted over 347 physicals at this event with a return value to the community of approximately $50,000. This community-based event is possible only because of the sponsors, local physician participation, and the assistance of dozens of volunteers from the community. Volunteer opportunities are still available if anyone would like to support local kids by helping.

A Health and Wellness Fair will run concurrent with the physicals. Many organizations will be present to talk with students and their parents about health, wellness, nutrition, fitness, and safety concerns.

For more information on the physicals, health fair, and immunizations or to volunteer contact Andrew Traut at atraut@centerfoundation.org or call 541-408-7269. Visit TCF’s website at www.centerfoundation.org.
