Young filmmakers share their voices and talent with the community on October 11 at McMenamins in Bend, Oregon.

The Future Filmmakers Program will once again be hosted during the BendFilm Festival, held on Sunday, October 11 at 1pm at McMenamins, Old St. Francis Theater. During this free event, our brave, young filmmakers of Central Oregon will share their voices and talent with the community at this free event.

Founded in 2006 by Michelle Alvarado of Wahoo Films, Future Filmmakers has grown to become a very popular part of the annual BendFilm Festival. Each fall, Central Oregon students in grades 5 through 12, create one to five minute videos which are submitted to BendFilm.

The Future Filmmaker Jury determines which of these films will screen during Future Filmmakers event held on Sunday, October 11.

The Jury, made up of BendFilm Board members, presenting BendFilm Festival filmmakers and Central Oregon video artists, will also determine the Grand Jury winner who will receive a $100 cash prize. The jury provides each submitter critical feedback of their work to help mentor them in their craft. The audience who is in attendance at the event will vote to determine an additional $100 cash prize winner.

Last year’s Jury Award Winner was Chris Choyce, who presented Camping Misadventures. Last year’s Audience Award Winner was Mackenzie Hice, who presented Technicolor.
