GreenSavers Honored by EPA as a 2016 Energy Star Contractor Of The Year

Local contractor gets national recognition for making homes more energy efficient.

GreenSavers, a home performance contractor in Portland and Bend, was selected by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as a winner of the 2016 ENERGY STAR Contractor of the Year Award. Out of 2,100 contractors across the country, GreenSavers is one of only six to win this prestigious award.

Oregon-based GreenSavers will be honored at the ENERGY STAR Awards Ceremony in Washington DC on April 13.

Over the last two years, GreenSavers improved the safety and efficiency of more than 650 homes in Oregon. Their retrofits reduced greenhouse gas emissions that are equal to the emissions released by burning 660,000 lbs. of coal. The Contractor of the Year Award recognizes GreenSavers’ outstanding efforts to increase the adoption of energy-efficient products in homes.

Since its inception in 1992, ENERGY STAR and its partners have helped prevent a total of more than 2.4 billion metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions. In 2014 alone, ENERGY STAR and its partners provided more than $11 billion in societal benefits due to reducing damages from climate change.

ENERGY STAR has 16,000 partners working to protect the environment through greater energy efficiency, including manufacturers, retailers, public schools, hospitals, real estate companies, and home builders.
