A happier workplace is a better workplace and these tips will help you achieve just this.

Show your gratitude.

When you recognize other people’s positive qualities it can help to bring out your own positive qualities. Gratitude helps to increase your happiness and can also transform the way you think. Gratitude is particularly useful within the workplace since it helps to develop mutual appreciation, trust, and respect among peers. You can help to spread gratitude by performing acts of kindness and complimenting your colleagues.

Use positive messaging.

Keep in mind that words are very powerful. What positive messaging refers to is using words that are full of optimism. When you communicate in a constructive and positive way it will change how feedback is received by your listeners. Make sure your communication is empowering, passionate, encouraging, and personal. Positive messages are always more impactful.

Practice thankfulness.

All of us crave praise or recognition for our efforts. Just a simple “thank you” can go a very long way. Get into the habit of thanking at least one person for their work each day. Just be sure it is genuine. One of the most important aspects of practicing thankfulness is to realize when you are actually thankful for something. Were you really inspired by an idea of a colleague that was discussed in a meeting? Did somebody go out of their way to help make your day easier? If so, go over to their desk or send an email to tell them how much you appreciated it.

Appreciate the small wins.

Celebrating a major milestone is easy to do. However, taking the time to celebrate all of the steps involved along the way is sometimes hard to do. All goals require you to take smaller action steps. Those actions tend to get overlooked most of the time. Try to remember to appreciate your small wins and recognize employees who are behind the scenes of a major accomplishment.

Smile.

Even if you don’t feel like doing it. Just turning your frown around can help to boost positive feelings and thoughts. Smiling can help to trick your mind so that you feel happier. Also, a genuine smile is very contagious. Even when your numbers are down or a sale falls through, smiling at co-workers will help to remind both you and them that everything is still going to be fine.

Develop relationships. To build a positive work environment, it is essential to foster healthy work relationships. Find ways to develop relatedness among colleagues. Regular check-ins and social gatherings at work are excellent ways to help develop healthy relationships among supervisors, co-workers, and employees. Just don’t get tunnel vision when trying to create work relationships. The most positive work environments come from developing respect and trust at all levels within a company.

Offer perks.

These can be small, vouchers, gifts or bigger picture like dental or health coverage. Compare Medicare supplement plans here.

Know what your mission is.

Your team or company mission is very important. Understanding what your “why” is behind your mission helps to spread positive – even during difficult times. When your office is feeling low and needs to have a positive boost, remind your team and yourself of the “why” behind your jobs and company’s mission.

Positivity is very powerful since it helps to build resilience and increases your coping capabilities. There will be days when it seems nearly impossible to promote a positive attitude and positivity. However, it is important to keep in mind that you have the ability to see good in all situations. Spreading positively not only helps to strengthen your own mindset but also helps to develop the mindsets of the people around you.
