Townshend’s Tea Company and Brew Dr. Kombucha have always been one company. Now they are united under one name. Matt Thomas founded Townshend’s in 2006 based on his love of tea and desire to spread awareness of the creativity possible through all things tea. In 2008, he began making kombucha from the same great teas and botanicals served in the Teahouses — and customers loved it. He decided to name it Brew Dr. Kombucha, and set about growing it as a new arm of the tea company.
Over the years, both companies have grown, and in order to better communicate their true connection, the brands have unified under the name “Brew Dr.”
The hospitable spirit of Townshend’s Tea lives on in each teahouse. From classic teas, chai, matcha and boba to raw kombucha, customers can find both fan-favorites alongside new innovations being served at Brew Dr. Teahouses in Oregon. Thomas sums it up, saying, “We’ve had a cool story as a tea company that used its creativity to launch a kombucha brand. Now we’re looking forward to telling that story more easily and finding new ways to offer our customers continued creativity with tea.”
