City Club of Central Oregon shares updates and upcoming programs.

Is Zip Code Destiny?

For this forum, the City Club of Central Oregon partnered with the Oregon Community Foundation (OCF) to explore the recent report, Cornerstones: Economic Mobility and Belonging in Oregon. The research explores neighborhood-level conditions that support economic mobility for low-income families. Their research found for people that grew up in poverty:

  • In Crook County, the average household income at age 35 is $32,000.
  • In Jefferson County, the average household income at age 35 is $30,000.
  • In Deschutes County, the average household income at age 35 is $35,000.

A Note From Our Executive Director (Written on January 31)
How is it already the last day of January 2022? Between the holidays, moving to a virtual January forum and getting our 2022 calendar set, it flew by! Last week my toddler could not go to his daycare. So, February’s forum on Childcare is very top of mind in our household. Not a day goes by at this point that I don’t have a discussion about parenting during COVID or how difficult it is to find childcare. To all of you struggling on so many levels right now, I hope there is a time soon when we can reflect back and look forward together!

A couple of weeks ago I had the chance to talk to The Source on their Bend Don’t Break podcast about City Club, you can listen here. Want to chat? I am open for in-person, virtual and phone conversations! Contact me at kim@cityclubco.org or 541-633-7163.
