Jeffrey M. Smith will discuss the health risks of genetically modified organisms (GMO) in the food we are eating and what people can do to avoid them on Tuesday, September 16 at the First Presbyterian Church in Bend, Oregon at 7pm.
“It is important for people to learn about the health dangers of GMOs. People don’t realize what they are eating can be harmful to them and their children,” states Jeffrey M. Smith, international leading spokesperson on the health and environmental dangers of GMOs.
He is the director and producer of the award-winning documentary film, Genetic Roulette: The Gamble of Our Lives and author of Seeds of Deception, Exposing Industry and Government Lies about the Safety of the Genetically Engineered Foods You’re Eating, the world’s bestselling and #1 rated book on the health dangers of GMOs. Smith has spoken about the dangers of GMOs in 37 countries, has been featured in many network television news shows, and appeared twice on Dr. Oz.
Smith’s film, Genetic Roulette, has been described as a “life-changer” and seen by millions world-wide. The film links genetically engineered food to toxic and allergic reactions, infertility, digestive disorders, and numerous problems that have been on the rise in the US population since GMOs were introduced.
Smith is the founding executive director of The Institute for Responsible Technology (IRT), a leading source of GMO health risk information for consumers, policy makers, and healthcare professionals. IRT’s educational programs are driving the tipping point of consumer rejection of GMOs, which is already starting to push genetically engineered ingredients out of the market in the US.
The GMO Labeling Central Oregon Alliance and the Sierra Club are collaborating with the Institute for Responsible Technology and local groups to bring awareness to this important issue.
