For 23 years, Jody Berry has been the founder and formulator of Wild Carrot Herbals. Having studied organic farming at Evergreen State College, her passion for medicinal herbs took root and blossomed. Her formulations are born from a deep connection with the Earth, inspired by the plants and landscapes that nourish them.
From humble beginnings, crafting salves in her kitchen, her dream of sharing the power of plant medicine has grown into 60 different products adorning the shelves of hundreds of health food stores nationwide. From alpine forests to wildflower prairies, her journey is one of boundless joy and a steadfast dedication to sustainable, plant-powered skin care.
Company Pitch: Lazy Z Ranch Wines
Lazy Z Ranch Wines is Oregon’s sole farmhouse meadery, situated on Sisters historic Lazy Z Ranch. In 2020, John Herman and his family began regenerative bee ranching and honey production at the ranch. Mead – or honey wine – is a diverse and elegant beverage resulting from the fermentation of the sugars found in flowers, aka honey.
While Lazy Z Ranch Wines will collaboratively dabble in all sorts of Oregon-farmed and foraged fermentations, they are a mead-centric winery. The first offering will be an Estate Mead – one of the only commercially available meads in the world to hold that distinction – made entirely from honey produced at the Lazy Z.
