First Interstate Bank announced the intent of Julie Miller to retire in May of 2018
Ms. Miller’s next chapter follows a career that spans nearly 40 years across the state of Oregon. She played a key leadership role at First Interstate and its predecessor organization, over the course of her 22-year tenure with the Company. Her extensive banking experience, philanthropic values, and passion for mentoring future leaders, has influenced others to follow in her footsteps.
With the acquisition of Bank of the Cascades in May of 2017, Ms. Miller joined the First Interstate team as the Regional President for Greater Oregon. According to Chief Operating Officer Jodi Delahunt Hubbell, Ms. Miller played an important role in the transition, “Julie is a fabulous leader and was instrumental to First Interstate’s entry into this dynamic new market. She played a pivotal role in helping both clients and employees transition to First Interstate and was a wonderful advocate for and ambassador of the First Interstate brand in the local communities.”
In addition to her efforts at First Interstate, Ms. Miller has been an influential leader in Central Oregon, having served as an Executive Board Member for Economic Development of Central Oregon, Past President of the Rotary Club of Bend, Chairman of the St. Charles Hospital Foundation Board, Charter Co-Organizer of TEDxBend, and a spokesperson for the expansion of OSU Cascades.
As she transitions to retirement, she plans to invest additional time and energy in organizations which positively impact the community. “I am thrilled to have extra time to spend with my family and to invest in organizations that are important to me,” stated Ms. Miller. She continued, “Following the acquisition of Bank of the Cascades, I considered it my responsibility to help with the transition of people – both employees and clients – with whom I’ve had long-standing relationships. I’ve been very impressed with the leadership, strategic direction, and values of First Interstate and am confident that with the strength of our banking team here in Oregon, our clients will be in good hands. While it’s definitely hard to leave, I do so with confidence and enthusiasm about the future – for me personally and for the Company!”
