The last few days of summer are here, and there’s still time to make them count. Explore the High Desert Museum’s final round of summer programming, including live animal encounters, hands-on exhibitions and outdoor discoveries before Labor Day.
Programs include:
Raptors of the Desert Sky
Experience the beauty and power of free-flying raptors during this outdoor summer program. Raptors of the Desert Sky is strongly recommended for visitors aged five and up. Tickets available day of at the Museum, and the program takes place at 11:30am daily through September 7. Note that Raptors of the Desert Sky requires an additional charge beyond the cost of museum admission.
Explore the High Desert Ranch
Get hands-on with the past and experience interactive history. Discover how people lived and supported themselves in the early days of the High Desert. Jump in to lend a hand or ask questions about the buildings and historic objects. Visit the High Desert Ranch 10am-3pm daily through September 7.
Meet an Animal Ambassador
This is a short program offering an up-close experience with one of the Museum’s Animal Ambassadors. This is the perfect option for younger visitors and anyone who may have difficulty remaining seated during the Raptors of the Desert Sky program. It is available outside the Raptors gate at 11:30am daily through September 7, weather permitting.
Discover Desert Dwellers
Join a close-up encounter with some of the museum’s animal ambassadors and learn the secrets of their success in this rugged landscape. Taking place at 3pm daily through September 7.
Visit the High Desert Ranger Station
Explore a historic ranger station building while learning about the ecological role of wildfire in the forest and the history of the U.S. Forest Service. Available 10am-2pm daily through September 7.
