World Muse is hosting their 2nd MUSE TEEN CONFERENCE, an event designed to offer local youth a platform from which to be seen and heard. This annual event featuring students from Bend High and Summit High Schools is slated for May 17.

Amanda Stuermer, World Muse funder, said, “We work with many local youth, and they often tell us that they don’t feel supported by our community, they don’t feel seen and heard. We want this event to be an opportunity for young people to speak their truth, share their wisdom, their dreams for the future, and their challenges with the present.”

The 1.5 hour program includes interviews and panel discussions with teens discussing issues from the Environment to Gender Inequality, a panel featuring local community leaders discussing what they wish they had known as teens, some special performances, and a photography/written word exhibit created by over 40 high school activists.

All are invited to this free event. “We want show local youth that our community is here for them,” says Stuermer, “They are our future. It’s time to support and celebrate them.”
