On September 1 from 6-9pm, join fellow Bend foodies for Locavore’s next Meet Your Farmer Dinner – a Farm-to-Table dinner at The Box Factory with menu by The Blackened Dragon, The Curry Shack, and Atlas Cider featuring local farmers and ranchers from Fields Farm and DD Ranch.
Locally sourced Farm-to-table dinner featuring a six course meal by Chef Nick of the Blackened Dragon, an Asian Cajun fusion food cart and Chef Runi of the Curry Shack an indian inspired food cart. Each chef will present an appetizer, entrée, and dessert showcasing flavors from all over the world. A cider and beer pairing will be available to purchase with the meal.
Locavore’s Meet Your Farmer dinners consist of a locally sourced, gourmet meal hosted and prepared by rotating local restaurants. During dinner, you will be treated to a presentation by the evening’s featured farmer. Fields Farm has been growing produce for the local market since 1989. Jim and Debbie Field take pride in their sustainable farm, using organic methods of growing, no pesticides, and tons of good soil building. DD Ranch has been raising grass fed beef since 1985. Linda and Jeff Anspach care greatly about the impact proper animal husbandry has on the earth and on the health of their customers. Some of the best meats (including pork, lamb, and chicken) are lovingly raised on DD Ranch.
Meet Your Farmer dinners benefit Central Oregon Locavore, a nonprofit organization that’s been promoting a local, sustainable food system in Central Oregon since 2010. Locavore is dedicated to improving access to fresh, in-season, nutrient-dense, local food and educating the community about the benefits of sustainably produced food from local farmers and ranchers. Proceeds from this event help promote a more ecologically and socially just food system, public health and diversification of the local economy.
