On Friday, January 22 from 6-9pm, join fellow Bend foodies for Locavore’s next Meet Your Farmer Dinner – a Farm-to-Table dinner at Deschutes Brewery Mountain Room featuring local Barley Beef ranches.
Locally sourced Farm-to-table dinner featuring a four course meal by Chef Chris Miller: Mini Beef Wellingtons with Chanterelle mushroom duxelles, Pecorino cheese, Fresh rosemary and parsley. Grilled Radicchio and Kale Salad with Pickled Fennel, Jicama, and Honeycrisp Apples, Smoked Bleu Cheese Candied Pecans and a Warm Maple Bacon Vinaigrette. Abyss Barley Beef Braised Short Ribs with Barley Risotto, Natural jus and Microgreens. Deluxe Dessert TBA.
Locavore’s Meet Your Farmer dinners consist of a locally sourced, gourmet meal hosted and prepared by rotating local restaurants. During dinner, you will be treated to a presentation by the evening’s featured farmer. Barley Beef is a collection of small family run ranches in Central Oregon consisting primarily of Rastovich Family Farm and Borlen Cattle Company. These ranches have been raising cattle for nearly 100 years and pride themselves on growing quality, hormone-free, well-nourished cattle. Meet Your Farmer dinners benefit Central Oregon Locavore, a nonprofit organization that’s been promoting a local, sustainable food system in Central Oregon since 2010. Locavore is dedicated to improving access to fresh, in-season, nutrient-dense, local food and educating the community about the benefits of sustainably produced food from local farmers and ranchers. Proceeds from this event help promote a more ecologically and socially just food system, public health and diversification of the local economy.
