Barnes and Noble in partnership with Make magazine presents the first ever Mini Maker Faire.
In stores nationwide, in partnership with Maker Media, the Faire is scheduled from the evening of Friday, November 6 through Sunday evening, November 8.
A Maker Faire is a community-based learning event that inspires everyone to become a Maker and connect with people and projects in their local community. These events are for people of all ages and backgrounds who have a desire to create, learn and share and who bring a DIY mindset to technology.
Bend Barnes and Noble Mini Maker Faire will feature hands-on learning and making opportunities
in the areas of ideation, creative thinking, art, design, construction and innovation as well as
programming, coding and 3D printing – with activities for children ages five and up to adults.
The Mini Maker Faire will consist of three main areas:
The Make Workspace demonstrations of featured products such as the da Vinci Jr, a 3D printer by XYZ Printing and the SpheroSPRK. Customers will experience the latest technologies in 3D printing, robotics, coding, programming and more.
The Meet the Makers space will feature presentation regarding the latest trends in designing,
building, creating and making. Customers will hear from local leaders, artisans, designers,
innovators and business owners about the latest trends in designing, building, creating and
making.
The Make and Collaborate space is where customers can immerse themselves in the process
of ideation, rapid prototyping, circuitry and more.
Some of the local participants include the Oregon Solar Car Team, the Bend Arduino Group, the
founders of e::space – a makerspace for electronics, Greg Congleton – local metal sculptor and
designer, George Stark of Stark Saddlery, leather works by White Buffalo design, Michelle Oberg
– local Chinese brush painter and local middle and high school robotics teams.
