Muse Women’s Conference to Gather Muses from Around the Globe

The 4th annual Muse Women’s Conference, slated for March 4-6, in downtown Bend, Oregon has announced its upcoming line-up of workshops, salons and new offerings including the Muse Art Show, Muse Run and the Muse Hub. From Maasai warriors from Kenya to a Nobel Laureate from Iran, this year’s conference brings together local women and teens with internationally recognized artists, authors, athletes, entrepreneurs, activists and social change leaders to celebrate International Women’s Day and kick off Women’s History Month.

Amanda Stuermer, World Muse Founder, said, “In 2015 over 100 volunteers worked over 1,000 hours to help World Muse reach nearly 3,000 women and girls locally and globally. This year, with a top-notch line-up, we are looking forward to bringing new voices, stories, and conversations, as well as some exciting new events to the Muse conference weekend.”

The three-day conference schedule includes a Salon Series and First Friday Curated Art Show on Friday; the Conference, Muse Reception and Dinner on Saturday; and a Workshop Series, Muse Run and Community Yoga on Sunday. Events take place at The Tower Theatre, Muse Hub (Liberty Theater) and COCC in Bend.

The schedule includes:

Thursday, March 3, 5-7 pm – Early Registration at the Muse Hub (Liberty Theater)

Friday, March 4 – 8 am-5:30pm – Muse Salon Series, 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm – Muse Art Show at the Muse Hub (Liberty Theater)

Saturday, March 5 –9am-5:30 pm – Muse Conference Day at the Tower Theatre; Muse Reception and Dinner following

Sunday, March 6 –8 am-12 pm – Muse Run and Community Yoga, Muse Hub; 1-2:30 pm – Muse Workshop Series at COCC Campus

Tickets, which can be purchased online now, range in price from $10 for Salon events to $350 for an All-Access Conference Pass.

Shirin Ebadi was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2003 for her significant and pioneering efforts for democracy and human rights. She is an Iranian lawyer, a former judge and a human rights activist and founder of Defenders of Human Rights Center in Iran.Marci Shimoff is a #1 NY Times bestselling author, renowned transformational teacher, expert on happiness, success and unconditional love, and author of  Love for No Reason and Happy for No Reason, co-author of six titles in the Chicken Soup for the Woman’s Soul series, and is a featured teacher in The Secret.

Lynne Twist, co-founder of Pachamama Alliance and author of “The Soul of Money,” has been a recognized global visionary committed to alleviating poverty and hunger and supporting social justice and environmental sustainability.

Melissa Lowery is a filmmaker, Diversity Director at Jesuit High School in Portland, and the the director of “Black Girl in Suburbia,” a feature documentary that looks into the experiences of black girls growing up in predominately White communities.

Hala Khouri, one of the creators of Off the Mat, Into the World, works with A Thousand Joys to educate social workers and direct service providers on the effects of vicarious trauma and offering them somatic tools to discharge and manage stress and create a culture of wellness.

Nikki Myers is the Founder of Y12SR: The Yoga of 12-Step Recovery, and a Yoga Therapist and Somatic Experiencing Practitioner who travels the the world teaching about yoga and addictions recovery.

Emily Evans is the first Executive Director of the Women’s Foundation of Oregon – a statewide, a public foundation that uses the power of women’s collective resources to make Oregon a great place for women and girls.

Sabore Oyie, Massai Elder and Warrior Chief, is the eldest of 16 and an honored Kenyan Maasai tribal leader has dedicated his life’s work to bringing potable water, education and economic enterprise to his community.

Hellen Nkuraiya, born into a traditional Maasai family and sold twice into marriage, has fought for prevention of FGM, advocated for girls education and protection of widows with the building and directorship of a distinguished primary boarding school and widows village.
