The overriding message heard during the NBAA (National Business Aviation Association) convention held November 17-19, 2015 in Las Vegas was this: Business aviation use is up.
Companies are using private aircraft for business 53.4 percent of the time compared to 36 percent of the time for trips through the airlines.*
And, business aviation is supporting many types of entrepreneurs and companies across nearly all industries. From award-winning country music star, Dierks Bentley, who flies private to balance time on tour with time at home being a regular family-guy to the Kohler Company, whose chair and CEO, Herb Kohler, says his people “seldom spend more than one day round trip”— business aviation is enabling more people to have balanced lives by avoiding the congestion and hassles of airline travel.
Spokespersons from Scotts Miracle-Gro Company, Salamander Hotels & Resorts and Crutchfield Electronics praise the benefits of business aviation saying it gives their employees: the flexibility to reach new markets; to be on the ground where they’re needed most; and to better serve customers respectively.
Productivity While En Route
Another driver of business aviation is heightened productivity during the flight. A 2015 survey conducted by Harris Poll concluded that employees who travel on private or company-owned business aircraft are engaged in work on average two-thirds of their time (65 percent) compared to only 43.5 percent of the time when they fly commercially.
