With Newport Avenue Landscaping’s rapid growth into commercial and HOA maintenance over the last two years, they are proud to announce that they will be switching all of their gas-powered tools to green electric tools by the end of 2024. This switch is part of Newport Avenue Landscaping’s commitment to environmental sustainability as the largest landscaping provider in Central Oregon.

The switch to green electric tools will allow Newport Avenue Landscaping to maximize their efficiency and reduce their environmental impact. The switch means fewer emissions, little-to-no maintenance downtime and quicker on-the-ground service. For instance, gas mowers emit 16 times the Co2 emissions per acre compared to electric mowers.

“The commercial-grade electric equipment has reached a point of development over the last 12 months to where it makes sense for us to start the transition. Although the commercial electric equipment is approximately 3x more expensive, the long-term cost and environmental savings are substantial. The total cost to switch will be close to $200,000 and amortized over the next 24 months. It’s a big plus to our large community/HOA accounts as we wont be disturbing residents or commercial tenants with the loud drumming noise of backpack blowers and large mowers,” says Sterling West, who founded Newport Avenue Landscaping 15 years ago. “For example, a commercial grade gas-powered 30 inch push mower costs us $1,699.00, compared to a commercial grade electric mower at an initial purchase price of $4,100. The three year cost savings of maintenance and fuel is over $5,000!”

With the 75+ employee team and twelve maintenance crews at Newport Avenue Landscaping, they are hoping to set a precedent with the other landscapers and contractors to improve our environmental impact on Central Oregon.
