OnPoint Helping Local Communities Thrive

0

After nearly 80 years of serving western Oregon families, OnPoint Community Credit Union brought their unique style of banking to Central Oregon in September 2010. OnPoint’s arrival signaled a new way of banking for local residents and businesses, by providing everyday value through fewer fees, lower loan rates, higher earnings on savings and 24/7 access to accounts, either online, over the phone or via mobile device.

But beyond providing members with greater value, one of OnPoint’s core values has always been to help strengthen the communities in which we do business. We have a tradition of sharing our resources with our neighbors, supporting a variety of groups that benefit our local communities and help build stronger neighborhoods. We believe we can build a better world for all of us by helping others.

Even in the short time we’ve been here, OnPoint has already made a lasting impression on the Central Oregon landscape. From being the main sponsor of Bend WinterFest 2011 to supporting local charities, OnPoint is working diligently to strengthen area communities. Here are just some of the organizations that OnPoint supports:

•    Bend Tools for Schools provides needed supplies to local schools.
•    Arts Central inspires creativity through arts education and advocates for the integration of the arts in all aspects of community life in Central Oregon.
•     Interfaith Volunteer Care Givers provides a variety of services to seniors and the elderly throughout Central Oregon.
•    Deschutes Library Foundation Summer Reading Program encourages a love of reading in children of all ages.
•    Redmond Community Concert Association brings affordable, quality live entertainment to people throughout Central Oregon and aids Redmond schools by providing artistic outreach.
•    Healthy Living Community Screening Clinic provides health screenings and basic medical care for low-income people throughout Central Oregon.
•    Redmond Education Foundation raises money for public schools throughout the region.
•    Deschutes Children’s Foundation provides a central meeting place, equipment and supplies for a variety of charitable organizations that provide help for children and families.
•    OnPoint Prize for Excellence in Education honors outstanding educators, with the winner getting their mortgage paid for one year. Two of the four finalists for 2011 were from Central Oregon.

Helping individuals reach their financial goals
Beyond our philanthropic efforts, OnPoint works on a daily basis to help our members save money and reach their financial goals. We offer a full range of financial products and services including mortgages, equity loans and lines, auto loans, checking and savings accounts, online banking, and mobile banking. So you get everything you get from a bank, but with lower fees, better rates and more attentive service. And, most importantly, your money is safe, insured up to $250,000, just like a bank.

The heart of the credit union philosophy is “people helping people.” As a not-for-profit financial cooperative, OnPoint is committed to helping our members achieve their deepest dreams and desires. That’s why, last year, we lent over $970 million to local families. We understand that helping others achieve their goals helps us all move ahead.

Open the door to opportunity
It’s this philosophy that has made us one of Oregon’s largest and most trusted home lenders. The staff at each of our Central Oregon branches were hired locally, so they know the territory. Our local expertise means we know the homes, the neighborhoods, and the schools wherever you’re looking to move. We’ll work with you every step of the way to get you the best loan for the house you’ve chosen. And because all decisions are made locally, our mortgage loan officers do everything they can to get you moving.

Our wide range of loans allows us to help nearly everyone, including first-time homebuyers. Our Just for Starters loan offers up to 100 percent financing with no down payment, no mortgage insurance and a fixed rate for 30 years. Our Homeroom Loan provides the same advantages for employees of an accredited education institution. For those who dream big, we offer a Jumbo Loan. And we offer everything in between, including a full range of conventional, FHA, fixed rate and adjustable rate loans.

Build a better business
OnPoint also offers a full line of business services including checking and savings accounts, loans and merchant services. If your business is planning to expand, looking for a better way to manage cash flow, or simply trying to expand your customer base, OnPoint Business Services is here to help.
Our line of lending products includes auto loans, equipment loans, credit cards and lines of credit. Whatever your business needs, OnPoint can provide you with the capital it needs to grow.

We also offer savings and checking products that accumulate interest, providing more money to your bottom line. This includes our Business Interest Checking account, which is available for all business types and has a high introductory interest rate to get you started! Our savings options include Money Market accounts and CDs to maximize your earnings.

Our business services include an array of Merchant Services including payment processing, which helps boost sales by allowing you to offer your customers the ability to pay by check or credit card.  And our business banking services come with all the convenience and accessibility you could want, including online banking and bill pay, mobile banking, direct deposit, a free debit card and our 24/7 Telephone Teller.

Join the adventure
With two branches in Bend and one in Redmond, OnPoint serves people who live and work in Deschutes, Jefferson and Crook counties (as well as ten other Oregon counties). Since we opened our doors, these three branches now have over 2,000 new members, with more joining every day.

We encourage you to discover how going local can make a difference in your life – and the life of your community.
