Improve Your Small Business

Boost your business’s success via this hands-on business coaching program providing individualized guidance on how to more effectively work “on” your business, not just “in” it. Through a combination of one-to-one advising, class content, and networking with a cohort of other business owners, you learn to set and achieve your business and personal goals and vision.

Offered in Central Oregon for over 20 years, Small Business Management (SBM) offers a unique approach where business owners receive one private onsite advising session and attend one afternoon class with other business owners in the program each month.

The Small Business Management Program gives you access to tools that give you an edge. It is a safe environment to try new things and to share your successes and challenges. The goal is to help provide an environment where you feel empowered to stretch and grow. SBM is a nine-month business coaching program that includes:

Jim Wilcox, who is the SBM Advisor and Instructor, has over 20 years of experience working with businesses. His background in management, business ownership and human resources along with a MBA from Portland State University makes him uniquely suited to supporting the variety of challenges you as a small business owner encounter every day.

Recent highly recognizable graduates of the program include O’Keeffe’s Company Working Hands Cream (SBA 2009 Oregon Small Business Owner of the Year winner), Vocal Booth (EDCO’s 2009 Product of the Year winner), Silver Moon Brewing (North American 2009 Beer Awards Winner), Pine Mountain Sports, Angeline’s Bakery and COLM Commercial, to name a few Central Oregon businesses.

The SBM Program starts in January 2012 and is open to business owners of established businesses with at least a year of operation and one employee beyond the owner. Full year tuition is $595 (a marketplace value of $3,000). To apply contact the COCC Small Business Development Center at 541-383-7290 or sbdc@cocc.edu.
