Known for its mountain peaks, tall pines and clear rivers, over 1,700 people call the City of La Pine home. With its bounding growth and opportunity, the time is now for the official launch of the long-awaited new City of La Pine interactive website. The goal of the new site is to engage citizens and city leaders and explore the new frontier of cityhood.

With initiatives underway to attract bigger businesses and forge economic development for the community as a whole, the new website will be a meeting-ground for residents and the business community alike. The site boasts easy navigation and an accessible source to community news and events. The enhanced site provides real-time and current content to assist in keeping citizens informed on the latest happenings.

Just a few of the many enhancements the site features:

•    Photography displaying the picturesque beauty in the area

•    Connect to community resources

•    Online calendar to view recreation activities and events

•    Online citizen requests, online payment services, and e-announcements

•    Tourism resources

•    Research job openings to free garage sale ads

•    Access city council data

•    Mobile optimized for remote accessibility

Rick Allen, La Pine city manager, said “our goal for the new responsive website is to reinforce the sense of community in La Pine; a place where residents, visitors and the city can communicate information on utilities, events, city economics and ordinances, etc. The site will showcase our community for future business development and entice visitors to travel and vacation in the area.

La Pine’s history spans over 100 years. Interestingly, the city is also the youngest in Oregon, incorporated in 2007. Today, as in days gone by, La Pine offers a welcoming small-town atmosphere, an affordable place to live, a thriving business environment, and unmatched natural beauty.

It’s an exciting time for La Pine, as citizens and city leaders alike explore the new frontier of cityhood. Initiatives are underway to attract bigger businesses that will provide good jobs and perhaps keep local youth from moving away to bigger cities. All this growth is encouraged with a cautious eye toward sustainability, to preserve the natural wonders that make La Pine a remarkable hometown—and to preserve its small-town feel, even as the city expands.
