The second annual event encourages family outdoor activities and education while supporting nonprofits and local businesses.

Are you ready for the snow?

Bend Snow Expo returns November 5, noon-4pm at The Center (2200 NE Neff Rd) as a benefit for The Center Foundation and Oregon Adaptive Sports.  With a focus on healthy outdoor activities, over 50 local businesses and non-profit organizations will be onsite to share information about the latest gear, lessons, safety tips and recreational opportunities for the winter season. Featuring local vendors, kid’s play zone, prizes, food, music and fun, this FREE community outdoor expo is an opportunity for the whole family to have fun outside and get in gear for the upcoming snow season.   The first 100 attendees receive free wax vouchers and everyone gets a chance to win Mt. Bachelor lift tickets.

Meet Professional Sled Dog & Iditarod Racer, Rachel Scdoris and get an autograph! Visit the snow corral to meet the experts and experience interactive on-snow outdoor demonstrations including:  cross country skiing, avalanche safety, rescue dogs, adaptive ski demo and more. The kids will have a great time with games in the play zone and watching for the Airlink helicopter.  And you won’t want to miss out on your chance to win some amazing prizes at the Oregon Adaptive Sports fundraising raffle. Be sure to stop by their booth to get your raffle tickets.

This year, Oregon Adaptive Sports is bringing the movie The Story to the Bend Snow Expo with two screenings at 1pm and 4pm.  The Story tells the tale of skiing through the enlightening experiences of  Bode Miller, Lindsey Vonn, Bobby Brown, Willie Bogner, Chris Davenport, Kristi Leskinen, Chris Benchetler, Reggie & Zack Crist, Mike Douglas and numerous other stars of skiing, snowboarding, speed flying, paragliding, river surfing and kite skiing. The film takes viewers into deep character dives with the most famous skiers and the most obscure ski bums. Viewers will experience the top of Mount Everest, never before skied steeps in Alaska and variations on human flight. Bring your family and snuggle up indoors for this great show.  Movie tickets are $10 and can be purchased in advance at Skjersaa’s and Powder House. All proceeds benefit Oregon Adaptive Sports programs.
