Mountain View Holds Baseball Batting Facility Fundraiser

The baseball and softball teams at Mountain View High School have embarked on one of the largest and most unique fundraising efforts in the history of the school and they’d like your help to achieve their goals!

The baseball and softball players are selling personalized, engraved pavers to raise money to complete the construction of a new state of the art batting facility currently under construction on the Mt. View campus.

The need for an indoor batting facility became evident many years ago as the long Central Oregon winter and spring limited our players to seasonal workouts. Planning got underway approximately 8 years ago and finally, late in 2011 the project was approved by the school district and the necessary permits were granted. Construction began in late 2011 and the project is moving along faster than anticipated. However, there is a need for more funds to finish the project and outfit it with the necessary equipment.

After researching many different fundraising possibilities, a team consisting of parents, coaches, school administrators and players landed on the paver project.   Players began selling pavers in mid January and according to Mt. View Head Baseball Coach Dave McKae< “sales are picking up and we are moving toward our goal of raising $40,000”. There are two sizes of pavers available. The smaller 4 X 8 size sells for $50 and the larger 6 X 9 size is $100.   Folks who purchase a paver will literally have their legacy “cast in stone” as the personalized pavers will be a permanent part of the “paver field” which is a 25 x 30 foot area at the entrance in the front of the building. It will be beautifully crafted in full color in the design of a baseball diamond.

All Mountain View High School baseball and softball players are participating in the fundraising effort and they are encouraged to reach out to family, friends, local business owners etc. to reach their sales goals. Players are also selling at home Mountain View girls and boys basketball and wrestling events. According to McKae, the fundraiser will last through mid June, when they hope to construct the paver field.
