Rodeo’s Best to Compete in PRS Redmond Invitational at Hooker Creek Event Center April 21

Rodeo season will kick off with a bang in Central Oregon this year with the PRS Redmond Invitational. Many Oregon rodeo fans will travel all over the state to catch a glimpse of World-Class Cowboy Athletes, and on April 21 the best in the business will be at the Hooker Creek Event Center at the Deschutes County Fair & Expo Center. The Professional Roughstock Series (PRS) announced today its star-studded lineup of cowboys scheduled to compete in the Columbus Showdown.

“There are a lot of Rodeo fans in the state of Oregon and it’s an extremely knowledgeable crowd,“ said PRS president and former professional bull riding great Spud Whitman.

“These fans want to see only the best of the best and that’s exactly what we’re bringing to town.” The roster of Cowboy Athletes is headlined by defending Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association World Champion Bareback rider Kaycee Feild, and the Bull Riding field includes former PBR World Finalist and Oregon resident Cody Ford and Superstar McKennon Wimberly. The list also includes 12-Time IPRA World Champion Shawn Minor, who says the PRS tour will be a focal point of many top cowboys’ schedules.

“Just look at the list of guys coming out. Everyone wants to see this tour grow and we’re doing whatever we can to support the organization and its fans,”

The lineup of equine and bovine athletes slated for Redmond is equally impressive, featuring numerous National Finals Rodeo qualifying stock contractors and some of the most feared animals in the sport. Todd Marsh, DVM, the Chief Veterinarian of the PRS Tour commented, “We’re bringing our animals from all over the country to ensure the best possible draw. It’s going to be quite a show for the fans in Central Oregon.”

The Redmond Invitational is the sixth stop on the Nationally televised 2012 PRS Tour. The series features the three most exciting and dangerous events in rodeo — Bareback Riding, Saddle Bronc Riding, and Bull Riding.

About the PRS:

Headquartered in Belle Fourche, SD, the Professional Roughstock Series was founded in 2001 with the goal of providing a good value to fans and an opportunity for growth and ownership for the cowboy athletes. The series features the top names in Bareback Riding, Saddle Bronc, and Bull Riding matched up with hand-picked world class animal athletes. Each night, twelve cowboys from each discipline will have one riding opportunity or “out” in the first round. The top four scores in each discipline will advance to the “Final Four Showdown” round for a winner-take-all bonus. The PRS televises each of their self-produced events through three different media partners —– Altitude Entertainment, Blue Highways TV, and Midco Sports Network.
