Ten recipients have been selected for the Arts, Beautification & Culture (ABC) Award 2012. The award honors individuals, organizations and businesses that have made significant contributions to the celebration, promotion, beautification or preservation of the City’s arts, culture, natural environment or public spaces in 2011.
For the ARTS the ABC Award 2012 winners are: Cricket Daniel – playwright; Pillars of Art at the Visit Bend Welcome Center; John Forsen -Violin Masters video promoting High Desert Chamber Music.
For BEAUTIFICATION the winners are: Betsy Warriner – Volunteer Connect; Paul Stell – Bend Parks and Rec; COIC Transit Center building Remodel on NE Hawthorn Ave.
For CULTURE the winners are: LessonPlan – Tower Theatre Foundation; Patty Stell – retired City Recorder and champion of the ABC Commission; Jill Rosell -I Love Bend, OR Facebook page; YU! Yogis Unite – event for all who love yoga.
Commissioner Liz Rink says, “The annual ABC Awards continue to reflect and honor the outstanding level of public arts, beautification and cultural efforts in our city.”
The ABC commissioners chose the winners from nominations submitted by community members. Selection was based on an array of criteria including the nominee’s level of community impact and uniqueness. Nominations are accepted from January until April each year.
