Oregon Manufacturing Extension Partnership (OMEP) is one of more than 60 resource centers nationwide that aims to help Oregon companies grow through innovation in processes, products and management. Staying competitive globally is one of the main focuses of their onsite work with companies located right here in Central Oregon.
OMEP’s local consultant Kleve Kee works with his network of local providers who are called on to assist with such important specific disciplines as revenue generation, financial valuations, operational excellence, leadership development and conflict resolution.
On Thursday, August 24 from 7am to 11am OMEP will be hosting a multidisciplinary workshop on, Succession Planning for Small Business at the Oxford Hotel. Nearly 65 percent of all small businesses in the United States will attempt to transition to the next generation of ownership in the next five years. Statistics show that, without adequate help, more than 50 percent will fail. Currently, 50 percent of businesses have no succession plan and only 30 percent of businesses actually sell that are placed on the market because of lack of accurate valuation or the personal financial need of the owner to retire outstripping the market’s value for that business.
OMEP’s foundation expertise is in helping owners through the succession planning maze; increasing their business valuation; increasing the business’s ability to generate cash; and developing the leadership for the future generation.
Joining OMEP at the August 24 seminar will be representatives from Karnopp Petersen LLP, Axia Valuation LLC and Jones and Roth PC who will present an informative overview of the succession planning process for privately-held small businesses. The final outcome goal is to maximize your life’s investment and improve the success rate of your business transition to the next generation of leadership. Also participating as co-sponsors are Sandler Training, BBSI and InvitExcellence.
Attendees at this session will be able to address their specific questions on the topic and hear more about the opportunity for OMEP to provide an assessment process tailored for your company that will provide a baseline of all aspects of your operation without obligation for engagement.
An important theme of this seminar is Your Business, Your Choice. In order for Central Oregon businesses to create, sustain and grow jobs for the future benefit of our region, specific choices need to be made to help all businesses be productive contributors to their owners, communities and Oregon well into the future.
