The Grange launches website and gives Oregonians a preview of the proposed development and opportunity to participate in Oregon First job initiative to develop this new $300 million multi-entertainment destination.

Today the developers of the proposed casino and entertainment destination complex in Wood Village, Oregon, launched an interactive website introducing The Grange to Oregonians for the first time and announced the Oregon First initiative to recruit and prioritize Oregon companies for the materials, supplies and labor to build and operate the proposed $300 million private development.

The Grange is to be a multi-use entertainment complex featuring local restaurants and pubs with Oregon chefs, wines and beers, a four-star hotel with a family-friendly water playground, an outdoor plaza open to all for farmers markets and other community events, a bowling alley, movie theater, concert hall and an upscale, smoke-free casino.

Located where the abandoned Multnomah Kennel Club operated a greyhound racetrack for nearly 50 years, the new development is expected to generate $100 million a year in new revenue for the state to support schools and other services and thousands of new jobs during the construction and ongoing operations of the facility.

“The Grange will be a fun destination for Oregonians and good for Oregon’s economy,” said Wood Village Mayor Patricia Smith. “It will be a sustainable development, generate thousands of jobs, millions of dollars a year for schools and other services and without a cent of taxpayer dollars. A grange hall is a place for communities to gather – we welcome The Grange as a new centerpiece of our community and its revival of a once-thriving part of Wood Village.”

The LEED-certified development will create 3,000 jobs and require between 200-500 Oregon companies to provide materials, supplies and other support during the two-year construction phase. The Oregon First program will give priority to Oregon companies to provide the materials, supplies and labor to construct the development in addition to the supplies and materials to support ongoing operations.

In addition to construction jobs, The Grange will create 2,000 permanent jobs for Oregonians to manage and operate the entertainment complex, providing competitive wages with full health care and benefits.

“Oregon needs jobs – good union jobs that pay fair wages and provide full benefits,” said Jodi Guetzloe Parker, Executive Secretary Treasurer of the Columbia Pacific Building Trades Council. “The Grange will inject millions of private dollars into our economy.  It will put thousands of construction workers to work immediately and support thousands more good, stable jobs into the future. This is exactly the kind of economic activity we need and should be supporting to put Oregonians back to work.”

The Oregon First initiative is a commitment to attract Oregon’s best businesses, from anywhere in the state, to provide the products and services to build and operate the multi-million dollar facility. The Grange website provides the 17 categories of materials and supplies necessary to develop the complex, and it provides a place for interested businesses to submit information on their products and services and be first in line for the opportunity.
