Volunteers to provide more than 150 free services to Central Oregonians in need. The one-day one stop event to offer free medical, dental, vision at Deschutes County Fairgrounds

WHAT:

Project Connect has helped nearly 12,000 individuals in Central Oregon who are homeless, on a low income, or simply struggling to make ends meet, since its inception five years ago.

This year the program is gearing up with more than 800 volunteers prepared to provide 150 different services including medical, dental and vision to those in need. These free services include evaluations from a physician, drug prescriptions, wound care, immunizations, urgent dental care (extractions), vision test, single vision glasses, alternative care (chiropractic, massage, acupuncture), foot care and referrals for future appointments.

The guests in attendance can also obtain identification cards and birth certificates. They can get a free haircut, and two hot and healthy meals. The veterans outreach will be available as will legal aid services, resume help, volunteer to employment services, housing information and kids services including birthday party signups and girl scouts among others. There will also be a “photo story” area where kids and families can journal and get their individual picture or family pictures taken.

Transportation will be provided by Cascades East Transit and several area churches to provide a comprehensive system of free bus rides to and from Project Connect.
