Cover Oregon – the new name for Oregon’s health insurance exchange – will be a Central marketplace where Oregon individuals and small employers can shop for health insurance plans and access financial assistance to help pay for coverage.

The community will have an opportunity to meet the Cover Oregon Board of Directors and staff and offer their ideas at an upcoming event. Cover Oregon will hold a community meeting the evening of November 7, from 6-8pm at St. Charles Medical Center in Bend.

At the meeting, board and staff members will provide an overview of Cover Oregon as well as seek input from community members on its development. The next day, November 8, the Cover Oregon board of directors will hold its monthly meeting, from 10am to 2pm at the Comfort Inn & Suites in Bend. There also will be opportunity for public comment at the board meeting.

“This is the first in a series of community meetings Cover Oregon will host throughout the state,” said Liz Baxter, chair of the Cover Oregon board of eirectors. “We look forward to introducing more Oregonians to Cover Oregon and finding out what issues are most important to them as we move forward.”

Cover Oregon – the new name for Oregon’s health insurance exchange – will be a Central marketplace where Oregon individuals and small employers can shop for health insurance plans and access financial assistance to help pay for coverage. Starting in October 2013, Cover Oregon will serve as a one-stop resource through a web portal, toll-free phone number, and community partners and agents.

Cover Oregon’s board of directors consists of consumer advocates, health professionals and business owners, including Aelea Christofferson of Bend who owns ATL Communications. “I encourage Central Oregon residents to come, learn about Cover Oregon, and, most important, tell us how we can make Cover Oregon work best for individuals and small employers,” Christofferson said.
