Small but significant acts of kindness can mean a lot to people who are working through the end-of-life process, whether those acts are directed toward a patient, a family member or a friend. In the view of Kelli Hewitt, president and co-founding partner of E2 Solar in Bend, Partners in Care excels in offering those small but very significant acts of kindness on a daily basis and to everyone involved.

As a result, when she and her husband and business partner, Mike, needed help with Kelli’s 103-year-old great aunt in her end-of-life process they knew who to call.  How best to keep Millie comfortable and well-cared for 24/7 during her final days was of utmost importance to Kelli and Mike. “Because of all of the positive feedback that we received throughout the community, we knew when the time came that Hospice House would be the very best option for us in helping aunt Millie through this critical time in her life,” says Kelli. “They were an exceptional help to us in so many ways when we needed them most.”

In gratitude for their service and compassion, Kelli and Mike have offered Partners In Care the gift of a new 2K solar system. The value of the system including labor and licensing to install will be approximately $13,000. The Hewitts feel that this is a fitting show of appreciation. “We believe that by helping one of our critical nonprofit organizations to lower their cost of operation, we are helping the community at large and that is in keeping with our mission to support our community,” says Mike Hewitt.

The system is due to be installed on the Hospice House roof on November 27, in conjunction with “Giving Tuesday.” Giving Tuesday is a nationwide campaign the goal of which is to transform the way people think about, talk about and participate in the giving season. “This is a wonderful and timely gift from the heart and we are truly grateful for Kelli and Mike’s generosity,” says Marlene Carlson, Senior Development Officer for Partners in Care.

E2 Solar is a local Solar Design and Installation company, located on Layton Ave. in Bend. Kelli & Mike formed the company together with now retired Dick Kent and Glenda Alm in 2005. Today E2 Solar employs nine people in their operation which serves several Oregon communities into Washington State. 541-388-1151.
