Feelings guide our decisions more than most of us are willing to admit. Items we purchase, financial investments we make, and even helpful gestures we extend to others are often determined by emotion rather than on real information. On Wednesday, February 6 during Oregon State University – Cascades’ It’s in the Bag lecture, Jesse King will examine the affect heuristic, the mental shortcut we take in decision-making, in a presentation titled Helpful and Safe vs. Useless and Dangerous: Research on the Affect Heuristic.
King is an assistant professor in business at OSU’s
