Redmond’s new high school received the 2012 Engineering News Record (ENR) ‘Best Project’ award for the Northwest in the K-12 Category. The $63.9 million construction project was completed by Skanska’s Central Oregon team in September 2012.

ENR’s Best Project competition is an annual program recognizing the region’s best achievements in design and construction excellence. The award honors projects that overcame significant challenges, adopted innovative approaches, executed exceptional design and craftsmanship and maintained safe sites.

One Project of the Year per category was awarded by an independent 22-person jury, representing architects, engineers and general contractors, all active members of the local building community.

Ridgeview High School was also awarded the Construction Management Association of America’s (CMAA) ‘2012 Project of the Year’ in the over $20 million category.

Ridgeview High School is a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certified project and boasts more than 70 percent locally sourced labor and materials, putting $44 million directly back into the local economy.

The 278,000-square-foot school sits on 55 acres at the intersection of Canal and Elkhorn. The 1,400-person capacity building includes 32 classrooms, 17 labs, and a world-class athletics complex and theatrical facilities.

Ridgeview High School, part of the Redmond School District, was backed by voters through a $110 million bond package passed in 2008, primarily to alleviate overcrowding at neighboring Redmond High School.
