A group of local non-profit organizations and local businesses are collaborating to provide a day of free veterinary services (May 5) for pets belonging to local homeless Veterans.
Central Oregon Veteran’s Outreach will partner with Bend Spay and Neuter Project, Dr. Wendy Meredith, the COCC Vet Tech Program, Bend Veterinary Clinic and Chiro for Critters to provide this free day of service. Bend Pet Express, Humane Society of Central Oregon and Ruffwear will be providing donations of pet food, toys, collars, treats, and vaccinations for this event. Bend Spay and Neuter Project will be providing free spay and neuter surgeries as well as microchips for all pets.
The clinic will take place on May 5 at Bend Spay and Neuter Project, 910 SE
will leave with a leash, collar, food, and a bag of toys/treats. The goal of this pilot clinic is to serve 20-30 clients and to eventually hold clinics throughout the year depending on need. “Our Veterans have given so much to us, the least we can do is make sure they are able to provide their best friends, often times their only companion, with proper veterinary care as well as items we sometimes take for granted such as toys and treats”, says BSNP Executive Director Megan Wellinghoff.
