The scholarship welcomes entrepreneurs to take advantage of the Small Business Development Center incubator program, carrying on Stevens’ legacy
A warrior, a compassionate Central Oregonian, volunteer for many great causes, and developer of the business program at COCC (in the early 1980s), Lindsay Stevens’ legacy will live on by helping business owners continue to blossom at the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at COCC.
Stevens (January 31, 1929 ~ March 15, 2013) was a dedicated instructor and counselor at COCC for many years and helped hundreds of local business owners and entrepreneurs start and/or grow their businesses – transforming their visions into realities. The students, businesses, and local community he served are passionate about growing the newly established Lindsay Stevens Memorial Business Scholarship.
The scholarship is now a reality. It will be managed by the COCC Foundation and used at the SBDC for its Small Business Management (SBM) program. Each year, deserving small business owner(s)/entrepreneur(s) will be selected to benefit from the highly regarded program that Stevens helped build and implement. The SBM is designed for growing businesses looking for long-term, hands-on business assistance. The program encompasses business seminars and monthly classes, one-on-one business counseling in the areas of marketing; financial analysis; expansion planning; planning for greater profits; peer group meetings; and much more.
