High Desert Design’s Council Gives Saving Grace Shelter Bathroom a Total Make-Over

As the organization’s philanthropic project for 2013, the High Desert Design’s Council (HDDC) is donating member time and resources, as well as securing those from local contractors, service and product providers, for the complete renovation of the bathroom inside the local Saving Grace shelter.

The renovation includes all new plumbing fixtures, vanities and storage cabinets, light fixtures, flooring, millwork, and paint. Saving Grace provides support and services to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, and stalking. The Bend-area 24-bed shelter was built in 1990 and features just one bathroom that has fallen into disrepair.

The project commences August 3 and the build is expected to be completed within 15 days.

Saving Grace and the HDDC gratefully welcome volunteers and/or charitable donations. If interested in helping in some way, connect with the HDDC via the “Contact” page of their website — www.thehddc.com.

Since 1977, Saving Grace, formerly Central Oregon Battering and Rape Alliance (COBRA), has provided support and services to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, date rape and stalking. Free and confidential sheltering, support groups, temporary restraining order assistance, therapy, counseling, a 24-hour hotline, and supervised visitation and exchange are offered to thousands of local residents each year.

Services for domestic violence and sexual assault survivors are designed to help with the healing process and to provide them with resources to regain control of their lives. Saving Grace has a 24-bed, supervised visit and exchange center in Bend, and offices in Redmond, Madras, Prineville and Sisters.

The High Desert Design Council (HDDC) is a non-profit business association founded to support and promote the growth and success of Central Oregon’s professional applied and decorative arts community. This collective includes artisans, designers, architects, builders, merchants, trade partners and ancillary services committed to business integrity, design excellence, and sustainable practices. In support of its members, the HDDC offers promotion and marketing opportunities, presents continuing education workshops, and provides venues for industry networking.
