Sister company to BendBroadband gains ABC affiliate and expands Zolo Media’s reach in Central Oregon

Zolo Media, part of the network of BendBroadband companies, announced that it will acquire KOHD-TV, the ABC affiliated television station serving Central Oregon. Zolo Media is purchasing the station from Chambers Communications based in Eugene.

Under Zolo Media, KOHD will continue to provide the same content and regional coverage including the KEZI Eugene station news.

“Both the Tykeson and the Chambers families have operated broadcast and cable television companies in Oregon for the past 50 years. We are pleased to add KOHD-ABC to our Central Oregon operations and build on the good work of Chambers Communications,” said Amy Tykeson, CEO of BendBroadband.

“When we purchased KBNZ-CBS in 2010, we made investments that would allow us to manage multiple channels and expand. With two broadcast stations, Zolo Media gains efficiency, and more importantly, we continue to serve Central Oregonians with the high quality ABC Network programming that has made KOHD a popular broadcast channel.”

“We know that KOHD viewers will be in good hands with Zolo Media and BendBroadband. By transferring KOHD over to a local, family-owned company with a long heritage of serving Central Oregon, we can focus our energies on our primary markets in Eugene and Medford,” said Scott Chambers, CEO of Chambers Communications.

All of KOHD’s employees will join the Zolo Media staff. Zolo Media will move its media operations into the KOHD building on September 1 and will operate the station under a local marketing agreement until final FCC approval.

“The acquisition of KOHD adds to the growing portfolio of Zolo Media,” said Tim Olson, Vice President and General Manager of Zolo Media. “As a full power station, KOHD complements KBNZ-LP and our targeted cable networks’ reach in the Central Oregon community.”

KOHD is available on BendBroadband channels 9 and 609 HD and is available over the air on channel 55.1.

Customer questions concerning the KOHD acquisition should be directed to Zolo Media representatives at 541.388.7714.
