Cascade Publications Inc. (CPI) announces the launch of Bend’s first and only art and entertainment App, CascadeAE. Based on the First Friday ArtWalk, Central Oregon exhibits and calendar published monthly in the printed magazine, the App features a new way to interact with local events, exhibits and galleries on Apple and Android mobile devices. Users are offered viewer contributed content capabilities.

Featuring an interactive ArtWalk map, users will be able to walk through downtown Bend and the Old Mill District to access exhibit details, photos and links as well as upload photos and videos and vote on A&E’s my favorite category each month.

Central Oregon Exhibits lists all art exhibits throughout Central Oregon from Warm Springs and Madras to Sisters, Bend, Redmond, Prineville and La Pine; find month-long exhibits with the help of the interactive exhibit map.

A&E’s extensive event calendar is now available on the go; art and entertainment as well as community events are all available on the App and users can sort by categories: art, festivals, film, literature, museum, music/dance, special event, theatre and more.

Over the past year CPI has been planning, designing and working closely with App developers, Five Talent Software, to create the mobile App. “Our team at Five Talent is thrilled to be Cascade Publications’ development partner for the new Cascade A&E mobile app for iOS and Android devices,” said Five Talent CEO Preston Callicott. “Through a custom application program interface, the app links to the A&E database and displays information about each First Friday venue, art exhibits and cultural events for Central Oregon. It’s simple to use and indispensable for First Fridays!”

Cascade Publications has spent the last few years working to enhance their traditional print media publications with digital media options: online flip magazines, extensive web content, social media, emailed e-blasts and now the CascadeAE App.

“We want to make sure our publication company is on the cutting edge of technology, linking our print newspaper and magazines to the internet. The App is the ideal complement to our arts and entertainment magazine and the growing arts and tourism industries will benefit,” said Jeff Martin, co-owner and president of sales and marketing at CPI.

“Exploring digital media options to augment our publications has been a priority,” commented CPI Art Director Renee Patrick. “Five Talent has been incredibly supportive through the development phases and we look forward to enhancing our local art and cultural resources with the App. We have enjoyed making Cascade A&E a great tool for promoting Central Oregon’s thriving cultural community.”
