Healthcare or Health Scare?

0

The City Club’s September forum  will leave you with a better understanding of the salient aspects of Healthcare reform on a broad scale (not just ACA and the CCO’s), touching on the federal state and local levels and, most importantly, what that means to each of us: small and large business owners, providers and individuals.

Moderator David Nogueras, OPB’s Central Oregon correspondent, will lead the discussion: “What is our role in turning around the staggering health care issues facing this country?” Panelists will include Karen Shepard, EVP finance, chief financial officer St. Charles Health System; Robin Henderson, director Government and Community Strategies, St. Charles Health System; Tom Ewing, M.D., executive vice president and chief medical officer PacificSource and Gil Welch, M.D., MPH, professor of Medicine, Community & Family Medicine at The Dartmouth Institute, The Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth (renowned author of the book Overdiagnosed: Making People Sick in the Pursuit of Health). Dr. Welch is in Bend as the featured speaker for the Central Oregon Medical Society’s 2013 Pease Symposium. There will be copies of his book available for signing.

Panelists will address issues such as:
• What do you think are the unintended consequences of the Affordable Care Act?
• What do you see as the 4 or 5 major challenges in its implementation?
• What do you want people to realize about the challenges of Healthcare Reform?

The forum is September 19, 11:30am-1:00pm, at St. Charles. To register, please visit www.cityclubco.org or call 541-633-7163. Early Registration (closes Tuesday, September 17) is only $20 for members and first-time attendees, $35 for non-members. Walk-ins are welcome the day of the forum on a space-available basis for $35. Buffet lunch is included.
