More than 100 Oregonians are now working on the production of the new film Wild, based upon the recent bestseller by Portland author Cheryl Strayed. The production, which began October 11, will use locations in the Portland area, Central Oregon and Southern Oregon.

The production will deliver its economic impact statewide while, of course, highlighting Oregon’s incomparably beautiful landscape.
Fox Searchlight will produce and distribute the film, which stars Reese Witherspoon and will be directed by Jean-Marc Vallée.
The film tells the story of Strayed’s 1995 journey along the Pacific Crest Trail which included spending time in Ashland, Crater Lake, the Three Sisters Wilderness, Timberline Lodge and ended in Cascade Locks at the Bridge of the Gods.
Wild is the first new project to come to Oregon since Governor Kitzhaber proposed an expansion of the Oregon Production Investment Fund (OPIF), and since the legislature passed HB 3367 to expand the OPIF to $10 million.
