Celebrating nearly 20 years of keeping Central Oregon’s business interests safe and sound, Security Pros Incorporated of Bend, has been delivering vigilant nightly mobile security patrols for governmental offices, commercial spaces, concerts and special events since 1994.
This January, Security Pros will mark a milestone of two decades of service, utilizing a modern fleet of vehicles and the latest surveillance and anti-theft technology available to a growing network of valuable clients, providing expert security for businesses, shopping malls and construction sites, with rolling patrols or on-site security guards posted and patrol checks several times a night to both retail and industrial clients.
“Twenty years is a big deal to us and we’re very proud of our commitment to excellence and the vital trust we’ve gained over the years,” said President and CEO Brian Shawver. Security Pros serves the whole tri-county area of Central Oregon, guarding over 1,000 clients and protecting a billion dollars in local assets, spanning more than four million square feet of commercial space 365 nights per year, with customers in Madras, Sunriver, Bend, Redmond and Sisters.
In addition to watching over the entire Old Mill District, their competent officers and professional staff also work special events like the Sisters Wine Festival, the Pilot Butte 4th of July Fireworks, Flashback Cruz, Day of the Dead Cyclocross and the Sunriver SunFest.
As the region’s original security services provider, Brian and Dianna Shawver have owned and operated the company since 2002.
“No other security company in this region even comes close to this value level, amount of space under protection, or our performance record, all built on helping our clients to succeed in their business endeavors for twenty years now,” said Brian. This year marked Security Pros’ entry into offering armed, as well as unarmed, security officers in Central Oregon.
“The security landscape has changed throughout the nation. Many more applications needing armed security exist in Central Oregon now than when we were founded in 1994. I’ve always said that when the market demands, we will supply.
I’ve received more calls for armed security in the past year than we have received in the previous ten years, so the need is clearly there.”
Security Pros has also established a new firearms sales and training division, called Security Pros Firearms, to serve the needs of armed security professionals, as well as responsible citizens who are qualified to purchase defensive weapons. Constantly evolving with the industry, Security Pros will be upgrading their Electronic Verification System (EVS) in 2014, which provides proof-of-work accountability to their clients.
“Our new system will include mobile tracking devices and electronic reporting capabilities, providing our customers with even greater peace of mind. We have a modern fleet of eight fuel-efficient Honda Accord and Civic patrol cars, and two electric vehicles. We also have a pair of bicycle patrols.
We’re very environmentally conscious with our vehicles and patrol choices.” During the holidays, Security Pros staffs nearly 30 seasonal employees, with all security officers certified through the State of Oregon and the Department of Public Safety Standards and Training, including a minimum of 12 hours of instructional sessions on state law and requirements. To keep officers up to date on the newest techniques, laws and equipment, Security Pros enlists the help of their Security Pros University, with two full-time instructors on staff who teach monthly initial certification classes and also re-certification training every two years.
